Tiles lifted, ridge loosened, a section of felt flapping about. We make it watertight first, then give you a proper price for the permanent fix.

One slipped tile lets rain straight onto the batten below. Usually a quick job, and much cheaper done now than after a winter of water getting underneath.

Usually water that has run along a rafter or joist before dropping, so the real hole can be a metre or two away.

Dripping you can hear in the loft
Worth a look with a torch on the next wet day. Check the underside of the felt for dark wet streaks.

Daylight through the roof
If you can see it from inside, rain can get in the same way. Broken tiles and perished felt are the usual culprits.

Storm Damage? Here's What To Do First

Look from the ground, not a ladder. Missing or slipped tiles, a loose ridge, bent guttering or bits of roof in the garden all tell us a lot.

Check the loft. Wet insulation, daylight or drips mean water is already getting in.

Take photos. Useful for us and for any insurance claim you decide to make.

Call us early. A few loose tiles fixed this week is a far smaller job than a soaked ceiling next month.

Roofing Questions We Get Asked A Lot
How much does a roof repair cost?
It depends on access and what's wrong. Replacing a few slipped tiles that can be reached from a ladder is a small job, while anything needing scaffold, new lead or a section of felt costs more. We give you a written price after seeing the roof, and that price doesn't creep up once we've started unless you ask for extra work.
Do you charge to come out and quote?
No. Looking at the roof and giving you a price is free, and there's no obligation to go ahead.
Can you help straight after a storm?
Yes. After bad weather we prioritise roofs that are letting water in. The first visit is about making it weathertight, and we'll price the permanent repair separately so you're not pushed into a big decision on the spot.
Will you just patch it, or try to sell me a new roof?
If a repair will do the job properly, we'll recommend the repair. A new roof only makes sense when the tiles, battens or felt are worn out across the whole slope, and in that case we'll show you why.
Do you work on flat roofs as well as pitched?
Yes - flat roofs over extensions, garages and dormers, as well as pitched tile and slate roofs, chimneys, leadwork and guttering.
What should I do if water is coming through right now?
Put a bucket down, move anything valuable out of the way and, if water is near a light fitting, switch that circuit off at the consumer unit. Don't go up on the roof yourself. Then give us a ring.
